Who Are the Christadelphians?

And what do they believe?

Like many today I was bewildered by the multitude of religious groups all claiming to have “the truth.” Not to mention the conflicts around the world all in the name of religion!
That was until I discovered the little group called the Christadelphians, the name meaning ‘a relative of Christ’.
Christadelphians implicitly believe the Bible and its basic message, that God has a plan and a purpose with mankind and the earth—and therefore He is not unmindful of what man is doing on the earth.
They believe that God intends to establish a Theocracy (a kingdom) on the earth as opposed to the democracy we enjoy today. Therefore Christadelphians refrain from participating in the politics of this world.
The late Bertrand Russell, the famous philosopher noticed this and wrote in his book, ‘Power, a New Social Analysis’ and said, “Christianity was, in its earliest days, entirely unpolitical. The best representatives in our times are the Christadelphians...”
Christadelphians therefore are waiting for the return of the Lord Jesus Christ to the earth when society will be changed for the better.
Isaiah the Old Testament prophet saw the time when,

“it would come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. And many people shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.”

From this passage and others we are told that there will be one universal religion, that mankind will acknowledge the supremacy of God and seek to be educated in His laws, that war will cease and man will  turn his skills to the manufacture of agricultural implements.
The message of the Bible is that “God’s glory will cover the world as the waters cover the sea.”(See Numbers 14:21) It presents a hope beyond the violence, immorality, pollution and every other evil plaguing the earth.
Christadelphians do not believe in going to heaven at death or to a place of torment known by most as ‘hell’. They do not believe in the existence of a personal supernatural being known as the Devil or Lucifer. They do not believe in ghosts, hobgoblins, witches, wizards or even leprechauns.
But they do believe in the God of heaven and His son the lord Jesus Christ who is soon to return to the earth and accomplish His father’s plan. Events taking place in the earth today, particularly involving the nation of Israel alert them to the nearness of this time.
